Definitely second Bandcamp for a wealth of ambient, downtempo and experimental music, and the labels are the best curators (with exceptions like yourself 😊). Being an artist on there it pays so much better than the streamers, with patrons being able to pay more if they want a huge bonus ✌️

Thanks for the kind words 😊 Funnily as a label I've earned more money from streaming than from Bandcamp by a long way. One track from Iu Takashi's EP which I think sold 15 copies on Bandcamp hit Spotify's Ambient Japan playlist, stayed there for ages and bought in about €3K. Streaming pays micro amounts but has the whole world using it, Bandcamp is still a minority, if very important, sport. Plus you get a lot of releases - today's tip included that you won't see anywhere else.

I'm still waiting for that magical moment when I get surprisingly streamed (a new verb? 🤔) and then I will stop bemoaning the zero's on the wrong side of the decimal point!

I hear you, with the entire label catalogue it's only happened twice on Spotify and one of those was an obscure playlist that only brought in 15K streams. Happily a track from the latest release has just hit an Apple Music editorial, so I'm looking forward to seeing what that means. Good online marketing and successful playlist pitching can help nudge a track towards the bigger playlists and algorithmic triggering. Absolutely! Yeah, the campaign I just ran was based off studying Andrew’s videos, you’re right he is a mine of information! I tried marketing my last album but I was completely winging it, this time I brushed up my After Effects skills and targeted the right people 🤦‍♂️ and got way more engagement. Just not enough $$ to continue with it. Keep on keeping on though 😁

I've tried gleaning as much info from his videos as possible, well when I had the time to do that, but a fellow playlist curator said they paid to go on one of his social advertising course and it was money very well spent. Once I get the time and money I'll do the same.
