One thousand tracks spread over twenty eclectic playlists that showcase great new music from alternative and independent artists.

The modern music landscape and attention span seem to be favouring singles over albums and to be honest I’m fine with it, especially when we have such an easy way to collect the cream of the crop, carefully sequence them and then reproduce them anywhere we want. No more cueing up the tracks from expensive LPs, EPs or CDs and messing about with tapes, minidiscs or CD recorders, just drag them into a playlist - now that’s progress. So for the last few years I’ve been squirrelling away tracks from new releases in private folders, then regularly creating and updating personal, yet public mixtapes which provide a fair chunk of my day to day listening.

I intend to scribble some more in depth thoughts on the joys of playlisting before the year is out, but for now I just wanted to highlight the range of music on TSMM’s playlists, especially as I’ve added 136 new finds to them in September alone.

Wanting to make TSMM as widely accessible as possible, I’ve also extended their availability across various platforms to give people what they want, where they want it. So whether you use Tidal, Apple Music, Amazon Music, Soundcloud, Youtube Music, Youtube, Deezer and Spotify (if you must) you’ll find all twenty playlists on each platform. Don’t say I don’t make life easier for you.

Take a peek, there’s a fair chance something there will fit your mood or needs: deep ambient sound baths, progressive new age vibes, brand new underground soul, jazz and hip hop beats, some end of week freakiness, deeper house strains, neoclassical grace, world music voyages, Balearic sundowners, heavy dub, various folk strains, upbeat grooviness, alt-pop and modern psychedelia.
