The Emperor Machine - Island Boogie (Leng)
"Neapolitan disco acolytes, Balearic nostalgics and Nu-disco queens will surely approve."
A few brief thoughts…
I first stumbled across Andy Meecham back in the early 90's without realising it. He was one of Bizarre Inc, who at the time were causing mayhem across the UK and other rave gripped nations with their "Playing With Knives" single, a dancefloor chaos inducing tune at The Eclipse in Coventry, my regular weekend haunt.
Fast forward thirty odd years and as many monikers - some you might know, many you (and I) wouldn't and say hello to The Emperor Machine's 9th LP, an alias which I was aware of and have been revelling in its disco dub deviance, post punk funk freakiness and cosmic synth shenanigans since it appeared on my radar.
The well named, Island Boogie is his first long player for Leng Records and suitably, without losing any floor allure, it's that bit sunnier & poolside party inclined than some of his more warehouse & low-lit dancefloor designs, and let's face it after 9 LPs you're entitled to stretch your legs a bit. The grooves are tight, there are hooks around every corner and the vibes are set to smile. Neapolitan disco acolytes, Balearic nostalgics and Nu-disco queens will surely approve.

Please note that if you listen on Spotify, with their new (de)monetization policy many of the artists recommended by TSMM will receive just a fraction, and in some cases no remuneration from your plays, with the money being redirected to more popular/commercial artists. If you want to be 100% sure you are supporting the artists you are listening to then Tidal & Apple Music pay much better rates & don't divert money away from the artists you are a fan of.
