Great New Singles & Emerging Artists from the Independent Underground - July 9th, 2024
Languid cosmos contemplating folk strains, deep jazz meets trip hop & solar powered downtempo electronica - get involved.
Jeff Cramer - Studio Lights (Self Release)
Jeff Cramer has a nice line in various strains of folk & Americana, from radio friendly indie to backwoods campfire. On his new LP he digs a little deeper into the roots condition, even taking some cosmic country tangents at times. The distinctly hazy, double microdosed late night delight, "Studio Lights" is the TSMM pick & sounding particularly suited to the Slow Psyche playlist.
Photay - Derecho (Mexican Summer)
Photay is lining up a new LP for later in the year on Mexican Summer & if "Derecho" is anything to go by, it's going to be an Indian summer soundtrack. Warm, unhurried beats & generous low end frequencies propel you beachward, exotic chimes add a touch of far flung mystery as the uplifting synths raise spirits & a smile. It's going to be a good day. Find it snuggled nicely into the Slowtronic Playlist.
Jens Lodén - Oh, what a wonderful world... (feat. Ivar Lodén Håkansson) [Loplay]
Jens Lodén is a Swedish bass player who's been around the block, surfing nu-jazz & even electronic waves in his time. On his latest LP he rounds up some great musicians & an agreeably distinctive bunch of vocalists to grace his downtempo trip bop & languid, late night compositions. Find the patiently building, sax iced "They Say" sounding sweet in the Slow Jazz Playlist & make sure you check the LP.
Michael James Tapscott x Aux Meadows - Cheap Hotel Reprise
Royal Oakie are a reliable source of guitar guided sounds, ranging from ambient Americana to festival friendly indie. Well their new summer showcase of what has been recently, what will be soon & what just missed their high bar but would grace most other labels is here. I'm particularly liking the solar powered, casually contemplative "Cheap Hotel Reprise" featuring TSMM follows Michael James Tapscott & Aux Meadows. Find them urging the Slow Folk Playlist to take it even easier.
